Let Me Reintroduce Myself

Omg it’s been so long and I don’t know where to begin; I guess it’s only right that I start from the beginning. Well hello my lovelies; my name is Ayana Von Hendricks and I’m a hair and makeup artist. I’ve been in the beauty industry since I was 16 yrs young; I’m a licensed barber and cosmetologist but I specialize in healthy natural hair care. I’ve been professionally doing makeup for about 4.5yrs and I love it. It’s my birth right I truly love anything beauty. I have a natural hair salon suite in Catonsville, Md called Yours Naturally Hair Care Studio for the last 8 years; where I service both men and women as well as my makeup clients.

So I’ve decided to start blogging because I love to write and I wanted to talk about and give my personal and professional input on the beauty, skin care and hair care industry. I’ve been doing it for so long why not blog about it. So now that I’m back into the swing of things I’m going to try my best to blog at least three times a week. I’m going to close out for now but I will be talking to you all in a couple of days.

Hugs and kisses 👄

Sisters On The Runway

First let me start off by apologizing for my lack of writing I don’t want to give you all a bunch of excuses but I’ve been sick with a terrible cold but I’m all better and I’m ready to work 😉

So as you can see the title of this blog it’s called Sisters On The Runway; it was an event that I participated in providing makeup services. It was a fashion show with about 14-15 different designers to help bring about awareness to domestic violence. The fashion show was held at the The New School in Manhattan; a very beautiful build might I add.

So there were about 6 makeup artist 5 hair stylist and 60 models both male and female of all ethnicities, nationalities, and sexual orientation as well which I thought gave the fashion show major flavor. During the whole we were getting the models ready I met some really dope makeup artist one in particular she’s on Instagram go check her work outs @beautybyhavanna she’s Jersey Shore mamacita and there was another artist there from New York she was from the Bronx I feel bad cause I don’t remember her name; I’m bad with names🙈. I took my niece with me as my assistant and she did an amazing job on four of the male models; she and I worked on a set of models where the designer wanted their eyebrows filled in either teal or white it looked so freaking dope

All I can say was I had a blast and I can’t wait until next year’s fashion show

Until next time my lovelies 💋💋💋

Makeup Seminar Review

Hello my lovelies it’s been a minute but I am now free from all distractions for now, don’t kill me. Well where do I start, I know the beginning so let me tell you. Last weekend I attend the Baltimore Curves Rock Fashion Show and met so really boss chicks that really lit the fire under my behind. These two ladies are awesome and I am so proud, happy, appreciative, and humbled to be apart of their beauty team.  That’s right you’re reading it correctly your girl is apart of the glam squad for the Nigerian Boss Lady Irene Omolewa and her partner Taiwo Tia Ajao.

So this weekend I was invited to attend a makeup workshop at the Downtown Silver Spring Civic Center with Irene where she taught the ladies how to properly fill and shape their brows, match their foundation and turn a basic daytime look into evening look. It was about 12 women in attendance of her class and she taught us all how to use the makeup products in her cosmetic line; might I add they’re bomb.com really impressed because they’re women of color friendly.

Speaking of her products she gave all of the ladies a 30 colored pro pigment eyeshadow pallet, primer, mattifier, foundation and pressed powder in our color, concealer in our color, translucent powder, beauty blender, mascara, bronzer, lipstick, lip tar, lipgloss, brow gel and a brow pencil; and she fed us food and desserts. Now I’ve been to some makeup seminars and there was no food let alone big goody bags filled with all that many products; maybe samples but these were full size products and I love them. The eyeshadow pallet, the bronzer and the eyebrow pencil are my favorites and her individual brushes are apart of the favorites list as well they remind me of Sigma Beauty Brushes.

After we all finished doing our makeup we had our pictures taken by a professional photographer I thought that was a very good touch to the seminar. Irene teaches that as women are just as beautiful on the inside as we are on the inside. The training was also for an upcoming event that I will be doing makeup for on October 3rd to raise awareness for Domestic Violence and I am doing impromptu makeup event on Saturday September 12 from 5:30-7pm to bring awareness to women about domestic abuse and depression…so I am putting together some ideas for my event so I will keep you all posted and I will definitely keep you in the loop for the Saturday October 3rd event.

Talk to you all soon,

Smooches😘😜😘

Lashes vs. Mascara

Hey my lovelies I know I’ve been MIA but I am back and ready to share some of my edutainment with my followers. As you’ve read the title you can guess what we are gonna be discussing this afternoon, my favorite lashes and mascara. I am gonna be honest with you I love them both almost equally but I can’t live without either of them. I can go into Rite Aid, Walgreen’s, Walmart or Target for tampons of pick up a prescription I’ve gotta visit the makeup aisle and I will purchase either mascara or lashes and as of lately it’s been both; I know I know I need therapy but dammit it is therapy it’s very therapeutic.

Soooooooo I’ve been wearing a combination of both lashes and mascara; and you’re probably wondering why in the hell is she doing that if the false lashes are covering up her real lashes. It’s a method to my madness, the mascara helps my lashes to blend easily into the false lashes so my eyes always look on fleet 😜😜😜😜; I know that word is too much, who came up with that word. Let me tell you though right now I have two drug store brands of mascara so that are bomb.com to me; they are “Loreal Paris Telescopic Mascara” and the other one is “Loreal USA Miss Manga Voluminous Mascara.” Those two mascara gives your lashes so much body and volume and when you apply it to your lashes and the teeth on the brushes are the right size so it’s combing and places the product on your lashes. I had heard so many good reviews on them both so I had to add them both to my pro kit and my clients love them as well.

Now let’s get down to it, any one that knows me know I am a lash fanatic. I am so in love with lashes that I am working on my own lash line, yeahhhhhhh ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾!!!!!!! So you’ve heard it first hear on my blog and straight from me; but anywho yes I love lashes they complete your makeup look, they give your eyes a full sultry look and most of all you can wear them day or night. There are a couple of brands that I like more then others but the style or cut of lashes I am in love with Demi wispies by Ardell, Dreamy by Kiss and Pretty by Kiss. Lately I’ve been creating my own look with the lashes. I do like the individual lashes a lot I am gonna be honest I am not that versed with the application of the single strand lashes; however I do apply the cluster (individuals) to customize a particular lash look. But like I said I do love the way the single strand lashes come off looking natural when they’re done professionally; I’ve seen some applications looking like dust brooms, ladies lets not play ourselves out like that🙈🙈🙅🏾🙅🏾.

So there you have and I will be in touch soon with the next one; until then smooches 💋💋
